And the winner is...

[Volume 1, Issue 2]
A study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology states that you are what you listen to.
This study claims that “music preferences tend to clump into four categories”, which is correlated with a variety of personal traits. Before you look (listen) through your iPod to see what kind of person you are, read this article to find out what your music preferences reveal about you…

I recently went through my music collection, and compiled a list of my top albums of 2010.

My Top 3 Albums of 2010 are...

3. A Curious Thing - Amy MacDonald (March 2010)

Third place goes to self-taught musician and Scottish singer/songwriter, Amy MacDonald. She released her debut album in 2007 and I discovered her music while living in Glasgow. I saw posters everywhere in the city and quickly downloaded the album This Is the Life but unfortunately returned to London and South Africa before I could see her perform live. Her voice is described as similar to Dolores O'Riordan (The Cranberries) and Sinéad O'Connor. A Curious Thing is a successful follow up album with a similar Soft/Folk Rock sound to This is the Life.
Listen to: “Spark” & “Troubled Soul”

2. Love - Angels and Airwaves (AvA) (February 2010)

Lead singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge (Blink 182) says the music of Love, their third studio album, has a progressive rock flavor. "It's like blending Radiohead and U2 together with these kind of Pink Floyd movements", he explains. "Things happen unpredictably and take you to these epic soundscapes.” That’s exactly what it does!
Love, the movie which explores the fundamental human need for connection and the limitless power of hope will be released on Valentines Day 2011 along with their new album titled Love: Part II.
Listen to: “Hallucinations” & “Shove”

And the winner is...

1.Come Around Sundown - Kings of Leon (October 2010)

The Followill quartet has done it again! This is the fifth studio album by American rock band Kings of Leon. Their previous four albums have all made my Top 5 list of the year and this one is no different and have jump straight to number one even before it was released! I had the privilege to see them perform live in London in 2008. The sound of Come Around Sundown is a lot like their 2003 album Youth and Young Manhood. A must buy for any music lover…
Listen to: “Radioactive” & “Pickup Truck”

Other nominees were:

“Alive” - Edward Kowalczyk
“21 Century Breakdown” - Green Day
“Smoke & Mirrors”- Lifehouse
“Something for the Rest of Us” - The Goo Goo Dolls
“Science & Faith” - The Script
“Flamingo” - Brandon Flowers
“Stardust Galaxies” - The Parlotones
“Jekyll & Hyde” - Prime Circle
“Some Kind Of Trouble” - James Blunt

According to the study (and my iPod) I am a reflective, intense, upbeat and conventional person….
